唯物史观的两种解释——改良论与革命论,曾经对19世纪末20世纪初的中国知识分子产生过很大的影响。李达所译的《唯物史观解说》另辟蹊径,在这两种解释之外详细论证了意识形态维度的重要性。作为本书译者的李达深受这种解释的影响,而该影响不仅体现在他关于唯物史观的独特立场上,还体现在他的其他理论学说和教育实践活动中。

Two kinds of explanations of materialist conception of history - the theory of improvement and the theory of revolution, have exerted a great influence on Chinese intellectuals from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. The “explanation of historical materialism” translated by Li Da takes a different approach and elaborates the importance of the ideological dimension beyond these two explanations. Li Da, who is the translator of this book, is deeply influenced by this explanation, which is not only reflected in his unique position on historical materialism but also in other theories and educational practices of his own.
