Pyrolysis gas chromatography is a very convenient method for quantitative analysis, especially in the determination of the copolymer composition of macromolecules. It has been widely used in the determination of some polymers such as crosslinking degree, isotacticity, branching and grafting degree, Molecular weight determination, as well as the distribution of polymer sequences and thermal degradation mechanism research has some usefulness. Quantitative Determination of Copolymer Compositions The quantitative determination of copolymer composition by pyrolysis gas chromatography has been very successful. It is characterized by its ease and speed of use. Therefore, the method is particularly suitable for the quality control analysis of products. Figure 1 shows the cracking spectrum of styrene-butadiene rubber. The ratio of peak area of styrene-butadiene (peak area) and peak area of the cracked product characterizes the copolymerization composition of styrene-butadiene rubber. It can replace the conventional analysis nitrification
