絞刀在精加工孔的切削过程中,螺旋沟絞刀比直沟絞刀优越得多。但由于螺旋沟絞刀在制造上复杂,又缺乏相当的測量方法和测量器具来准确测定其前后角,以致它在普追使用上受到一定的限制。对一般使用的直沟絞刀来說,普通多采用机械接触量法,借助所接触的长度以光隙估計,或輔助工具指示計等进行测量。由于所接触长度的限制,往往誤差很大。这对前后面长度很短的小尺寸絞刀和精絞用絞刀,特別显著。例如,尺寸小于10毫米以下的絞刀,有的几乎不可能进行測量。对于螺旋沟絞刀,因螺旋角而具有的前后面是螺旋扭面,
