我矿为第四纪内叠河成阶地细谷砂矿。矿区位于常(德)桃(源)红色盆地中部。砂矿矿床的形成是由于源水河床夹带大量矿物,出武陵山谷,进入常桃红色盆地,沉积下来。后河谷上升,形成七级河床阶地。其中Ⅴ到Ⅶ级阶地砂砾层中,含有较多的有用矿物,又受长期季节性雨水冲刷,形成冲沟,发育成细谷,起了再一次富集作用,因而形成有工业价值的细谷类型或细谷阶地型砂矿。矿体构造:大部分地段,结构简单,成双层结构,上部为粘土或亚粘土层,厚度
