法国当前最大的生产铝合金货箱的 Tr-ouillet 公司(1957年建立)与 Intermarche 公司密切合作,设计并制造了一种双层重叠式货箱的特殊厢式半挂车。在法国主要用来运输活牲畜的,在其它国家特别在英国较为广泛使用的这种布置型式,对于用集装小车发货的部门有极大的吸引力。实际上,一辆传统的箱式半挂车,只能装48个标准式集装小车,假设有效载重仅14吨(每个集装小车约300公斤),则商业容积的损失达20～30%。
Tr-ouillet, the largest French manufacturer of aluminum containers (established in 1957), works closely with Intermarche to design and manufacture a special van trailer for double-decked containers. This type of arrangement, which is mainly used to transport live animals in France and is more widely used in other countries, especially in the United Kingdom, is of great appeal to departments that ship containers in bulk. In fact, a conventional box semitrailer can only accommodate 48 standard-type trolleys. Assuming a payload of only 14 tonnes (about 300 kg for each trolley), the commercial volume will have a loss of 20-30% .
