农民工是上个世纪80年代以来随着我国城市化兴起而出现的特殊群体,为我国城市化进程作出了重要贡献。与此同时,由于历史和社会的原因,当前农民工的社会保障问题日益突出,成为社会普遍关注的焦点问题。构建社会主义和谐社会,必须加强对农民工的社会保障制度建设。对农民工社会保障的现状、存在的问题进行分析,建立适合我国农民工特点的社会保障制度,依法维护农民工的合法权益,加速我国城市化进程,促进整个社会健康和谐发展,是具有深远意义的。
