1998年12月23日,这是一个谱写省水利技校校史的日子。这天,省重点技工学校评估小组在经过为期5天的驻校检查评估后宣布:陕西省水利技工学校已基本达到省级重点技校标准,他们决定向上级主管部门报请水利技校为省级重点技校。喜讯传来,一千多名师生员工奔走相告,群情振奋。不几天,一块由陕西省人民政府颁发的“重点技工学校”的铜牌被捧回了校园。这不但标志着水利技校将从此跻身于全省重点技校的行列,也证明技校的办学实力及办学水平已被省人民政府所肯定,更将预示着技校历史新一页的掀开。技校人这样认识这块铜牌的意义——“重点技校的牌子,不仅会提高学校的知名度,增加生源,更重要的是为技校人树起了新的奋斗目标。”(摘自校刊《开拓》)自从1992年参加评估与“省重点技校”失之交臂以来,技校人终于圆了7年的梦想。
