普特南是19世纪末20世纪初美国著名的图书馆专家,在图书馆界供职半个多世纪,作出了卓越的贡献。其图书馆思想主要包括图书馆管理思想、图书馆服务思想以及图书馆合作思想。其思想对美国图书馆学术思想史研究及我国图书馆事业的发展都有一定的意义。
Putnam was a famous American library expert from the late 19th century to the early 20th century and has made outstanding contributions to the library community for more than half a century. Its library ideology mainly includes the library management thought, the library service thought as well as the library cooperation thought. Its thinking has certain significance to the study of the history of academic thought in American libraries and the development of Chinese libraries.
