美国的欧柏林音乐文理大学是一所著名的学府,有着优良的传统和较高的学术水平,曾经培养出三位诺贝尔奖获得者和一位大发明家。本文主要介绍C.M.霍尔在F.F.朱艾特教授指导下发明铝电解法的全过程和他经营铝企业的一生以及他的捐献对山西铭贤学校的影响。欧柏林大学、美国化学界为霍尔的发明举行了多次庆祝活动。他也获得“佩尔津奖章奖”这一国际殊荣。霍尔创办的美国铝业公司现在仍是美国的大企业之一。他的事迹对美国的化学工业和其他工业以及世界铝业的发展都有重要影响。
The Oberlin Music and Arts University in the United States is a notable university with excellent traditions and high academic standards. It has trained three Nobel Prize winners and one great inventor. This article mainly introduces the whole process of inventing the aluminum electrolysis method by C.M. Hall under the guidance of Professor F.F. Juite, his life of running the aluminum enterprise and his influence on Shanxi Mingxian School. Oberlin University, the United States chemistry for Hall’s invention held a number of celebrations. He also won the “Peirkin Medal Award” this international award. Alcoa, the company founded by Hall, is still one of the largest U.S. corporations. His deeds have a major impact on the chemical industry and other industries in the United States and the development of the world’s aluminum industry.
