In the chemist’s mind, the notion of a periodic system is first and foremost linked to the vast amount of material that is found in inorganic chemistry. In fact, our knowledge of carbon-containing elemental compounds is accelerating and the new field of chemistry, Elemental Organic Chemistry, is growing.
