Lack of sleep makes it easy for employees to get injured at work or make costly mistakes or make the body sick. Public health experts sounded the alarm on the issue. In June last year, the US National Transportation Safety Board held that the main cause of a major traffic accident in which 15 people were injured and 18 others were injured in buses that returned to New York City from the Connecticut casinos was driver fatigue driving. This was one of the few major accidents that the commission investigated last year - and most deadly. Investigators found that drivers slept for only three hours or less a day on average three days before the accident. According to a study released earlier this year by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), about 41 million U.S. workers sleep less than six hours per night, meaning that 30% of Americans spend less sleep than the American Sleep Foundation
