As one of the conditions for the 2000 Olympic Games, the city of Berlin developed this racing and swimming complex in an urban park of approximately 100,000 square meters. The project was designed to simulate a flexible span of steel roofs into a lake enclosed by 450 newly planted apple trees. The two three-story halls, like the Roman amphitheatre, sank 17 meters from the ground, only one meter above the ground. It is surrounded by stairs and ramps. The racing arena sinks eight metres from the main foyer and entrance level, from which the lower seating area can be reached. The upper seating area can be reached by elevators and stairs. The open-air circuit is covered with a massive steel structure roof. The footbridge is built in the roof structure for easy maintenance and maintenance. The entire roof surface and façade area are covered with a new type of metal mesh, giving the building an interesting visual unity that creates extraordinary results through the reflection of light. Separate metal frame prefabricated components form the supporting structure of this metal network. The individual areas are connected by steel springs, which can be opened during maintenance and allow people to walk on their surfaces.
