原云南省长李嘉廷因违纪被查处2001年9月26日,经中共中央批准,中央纪律检查委员会对第十五届中央委员会候补委员、原云南省委副书记、省长李嘉廷的违纪问题进行了审查。经查明,李嘉廷的主要违纪事实是:收受邹某某等9人贿赂,共折合人民币119万元;利用职务上的便利为他人谋利,其子接受对方钱物,共折合人民币2049万元;与有夫之妇徐某某通奸,并利用职权为徐谋取不正当利益,涉及金额3000余万元。李嘉廷身为党员领导干部,利用职权收受贿赂,为儿子和情妇谋取非法利益,违纪数额巨大,情节严重,所造成的社会和政治影响十分恶劣。中央撤销李嘉廷中共第十五届中央委员会候补委员职务,给予其开除党籍处分;国务院给予其行政开除处分;目前司法机关正对其涉嫌触犯刑律的问题依法处

The Central Government revokes Li Jiating’s alternate member of the 15th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to give him expelled from the party; the State Council gives him an administrative dismissal; and at present, the judiciary is punishing him according to law
