刃磨滚刀时,一个通常的错误是不知道前刃面是否应该通过滚刀中心。若滚刀的设设是前刃面通过中心的,那么只有在前刃面通过中心的时候,滚刀齿形才是正确的,若前刃面刃磨得与原设计不同,则切削刃的角度亦随之改变。带有正前角的前刃面将切出压力角较小的齿形,如图8所示,这将形成被加工齿轮的齿顶较厚,齿根较薄。当滚刀前刃面是设计成带有正前角的,那末滚刀的齿形已作了补偿,使切出的齿形具有正确的压力角。
