在开始设计锦江饭店用瓷以前,我们几位同志根据所党委的指示精神,去到上海锦江饭店,深入现场了解他们的具体要求。在了解情况的过程中,我们几次请“锦江”的服务员座谈对陈设瓷和日用瓷的意见。他们说,我们所希望所需要的瓷器,并不单纯为了摆设,或者盛盛菜、吃吃饭而已,而是通过这些陶瓷美术作品以无声的语言宣传我国的对外政策,宣传我国政治、经济繁荣昌盛的一个极好机会和阵地。
