Although potassium carbonate and sodium sulphate have been weak in the first half of 1996, they seem to be slowly dying. Unless prices increase, North American salt production has been very successful in the second half of this year. Soda Ash production plants are striving to increase production to meet the worldwide demand for soda ash caused by the economic recovery and the rapid decline in the production capacity of synthetics. The new prices implemented make their efforts easier to achieve. The production plant has noticed that the demand for the entire year of 1996 has been stable and it has been attracted to invest funds in the new natrium stone (natural sodium bicarbonate) project. However, adding a new manufacturer to an already basically saturated market may cause some problems in the future.
