高校系资料室是直接为教学科研服务的“前沿阵地”。它在整个社会情报信息传递中,具有特殊功能。因期刊记载了各学科教学、科研的现状、新的成果及发展方向,反映了最新的科技成就。所以,在高校教学和科研中,起着极为重要的作用。系资料室的主要任务,就是以其藏书刊为教学、科研服务,为教师和学生服务。目前,期刊在资料室入藏比例越来越大,利用率也越来越高。为搞好资料室的情报服务,所以,必须加强期刊建设和开发期刊资源。
