伪造的书，自古有之。近代出版史上，有三大伪书曾在当时引起轰动。一是《当代名人轶事大观》，署名吴研人著。内容是把当时每个有名的人物，写几百字的小文字，记述其风趣的故事。但仔细一读，便知是假的。因为这本书发生在吴研人逝世以后，和吴研人的文风相差甚远。但究竟出?
