Objective To observe the effects of mild hypothermia on plasma platelet factor 4 (PF4) in patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods Forty-six patients with severe craniocerebral injury who were included in the study were randomly divided into mild hypothermia treatment group and conventional treatment group, 23 patients each. The treatment group was given hypothermal hypothermia while treated with drug-treated severe craniocerebral injury. Before treatment, Neurological deficit score and PF4 content were determined. Results The score of neurological impairment in mild hypothermia group was lower than that of conventional treatment group 48 h after treatment (P <0.05), and the plasma PF4 level in hypothermia treatment group 48 h after treatment was significantly decreased (P <0.05). Conclusion Mild hypothermia can improve the neurological deficits in patients with severe traumatic brain injury.
