Undoubtedly, great progress and gratifying achievements have been made in the study of Lu Xun and the 20th century in China, but there are still some problems worthy of attention. Among them, the alienation of Lu Xun and his work from the vast majority of young people, especially middle school students, is probably one of the most notable “shortcomings” in the study of Lu Xun. Before I came to Qingdao University, I had taught at the Chinese Department of Taian Teachers College from 1977 to 1987, and successively took over ten years of teaching modern literature. At that time, Lu Xun and Lu Xun’s works undoubtedly were the subject teaching
