自20世纪80年代以来,国内外历史哲学界兴起了海登·怀特研究热,取得了一系列研究成果,相对而言,国内研究弱于国外研究。海登·怀特本人理论立场摇摆不定的根源,以及国内怀特研究中涉及的所有问题,都可以归结为陈述句子与整体历史叙事之间的关系问题。遗憾的是,无论是怀特本人,还是其他的怀特研究者,都尚未令人满意地从理论上分析陈述句子与整体历史叙事之间的关系,因此尽管他们对此表明了自己的理论立场,但是其立场的理论基础尚不清晰。如此看来,就必须从元哲学的角度而不是以举例论证的方式来洞悉这二者之间的关系。
