2000年4月,赵南起以全国政协副主席的身份率中国代表团访问韩国。韩国方面以最高的礼节欢迎这位朝鲜族的中国政协副主席。离开家乡忠清北道时,赵南起还是一个13岁的少年,再踏上家乡的土地已年过七旬。这位朝鲜族中国上将传奇的身世和经历令人们关注,他那亦将亦兵的情怀,以及视名利淡如水、看事业重如山的情操,更让人们无限敬佩……生在朝鲜,却投身中国革命1927年4月20日,赵南起出生在一个乡绅家庭。七八岁时他就开始下田劳动,少年时代的劳作,练就了赵南起坚实的体魄,也使他体会到了人间的辛酸。当时,日本人在朝鲜实行殖民地统治,对朝鲜人民进行残酷的欺压和掠夺。
