我国有漫长海岸线和578万KM~2的海域,它蕴藏着丰富的资源.要探明和开发这些资源,需要大量耐海水腐蚀材料,而钛及其合金是较为理想的材料,因此钛有“海洋金属”之称,尽管纯钛耐海水腐蚀,但人们还是通过在钛中加入小量钝化合金元素铌和钼来进一步提高它的耐蚀性和综合性能.Ti-6Al-3Nb-lMo(简称Ti-631合金),就是目前研制成功的性能优异的耐蚀合金.Ti-631合金属于近α型钛合金,具有良好的焊接性能、耐腐蚀疲劳性能、抗海水应力腐蚀、耐空泡腐蚀、无磁和高断裂性能,冷轧板材强度相当于TC4合金,σb高达920~1020MPa,属于784MPa级的优良船用结构钛合金.
