中学语文教学效率低的症结在于中学语文教材存在“格”和“序”的科学化问题。经过十多年对中学语文教育规律和潜心探索，终于自编了《中学语文》（教材草案），力求达到“既要提高程度，又要缩短学程；既要加大容量，又要减轻负担”这个中学语文教育现代化的要求。
