连城鲁土司在明清两代西北众多土司中属影响较大的土司之一。自明初降明治第连城以来，享有朝迁赐封的大片自治区域，总面积约9000平方公里、包括个永登县红古区的大部分及天祝、西固、永靖、民和、乐部等县区的部分地区。近年，连城鲁土司引起研究者越来越多的兴趣。然《世谱》中关于始祖的记载与史实相比漏洞较多。今证鲁贤为其始祖。
