The Fourth East Asian Archaeology Conference sponsored jointly by the Bureau of International Cooperation and the Institute of Archaeology,CASS was held in Beijing on 3 to 5 June,2008.The attendants made extensive and deep-going discussions on East Asian paleoliths,comparative studies between early complex society in East Asia and that in the world,metallurgy and society in Eurasia,archaeology of East Asian islands,interaction between regions of East Asia in prehistoric and historical times,the protection of East Asian archaeological heritage,the Bronze Age in China and archaeology of prehistoric South China and Southeast Asia,as well as archaeozoology,archaeobotany,physical anthropology and studies of glassware in East Asia.
