人类使用的文字,皆具有形、声、义三个方面的意涵,汉字图案,是将汉字的字形构成加以美化的一种特殊的图案。汉字图案的装饰特点具有实用功能,于是便走向了民间,汉字图案在民间得到了工匠艺人的推崇和发展创新,融入了越来越多的民间艺术色彩。例如,汉字与流行图案的组合,其审美意义与功利意义的结合等。民间艺术的观念,成为汉字图案发展的主要推动力量,将其凝结着民俗与民情,正因为如此,在当代平面设计中,设计师们也愈加地重视民间这种文字造型规则在设计中的巧妙应用。
