七里海生态环境和自然景观的最大特点,可概括为三个字:野、古、文。七里海野生动植物资源非常丰富。野生植物有41科153种,占天津滨海地区湿地植物的93%;还是世界三大著名古海岸之一,主要自然遗迹有牡蛎滩、贝壳堤、鳁鲸骨、麋鹿角等;它还极具浓郁的古老文明气息,有大量战国遗迹、秦汉旧址、古墓城池及于方舟故居等。
