The Kun Huang movement was an important tectonic uplift event occurring in the middle Pleistocene during the Tibetan Plateau and its adjacent area. The river terraces and stratigraphic records can well reflect this tectonic event. The 104.5-m-thick loess was deposited on the seventh terrace of the Longxi section of the Weihe River. Based on the paleomagnetic and particle size studies of the overlying loess section, the age of the terraces was 870 ka dating back to the present, and the height of the terraced tug-height shows that since the middle Pleistocene, Raised at least 205m, the rate of its rise is about 0.2m / ka. This structural event coincides with the movement of Kunhuang in time and is a response to the intense uplift of the Tibetan Plateau.
