台粳8号系台湾台南农业改良场育成的粳型迟熟常规优质水稻新品种。2007年莆田市种子管理站从台湾台南农业改良场引进种植,并对台粳8号进行高产性、丰产性、抗病性等试验研究。2011年3月通过福建省农作物品种审定委员会审定。2007年、2008年分别在莆田市涵江区大洋乡、荔城区西天尾镇林山村等地作中稻区域试验。2009年、2010年在莆田市作中稻进行多点生产试验示范,表现生育期适中,根系发达,群体整齐,株型适中,穗大粒多,耐寒性强,剑叶短直,抗倒较强,后期转色好,丰产性好,米质优等特点。
