NEW YORK, July 11, 1980 - An American gynecologist has developed a new and arduous program that will help women with diabetes develop healthy children. According to Dr. Lee Rigg of the Washington University School of Medicine, diabetic women often overlook their own condition and cause over-birth, handicapped or stillborn babies. In some areas, the infant mortality rate for diabetic women can be as high as 1 in 4 infants, with deformities such as no spine, ectopic heart, and extra skin on the ear.
