Objective To investigate the effects of endogenous high density lipoprotein (nHDLs) on pancreatic injury induced by hemorrhagic shock in rats with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Methods Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group (n = 10), MODS group (n = 10) and intervention group (n = 10). The level of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the pathological changes of pancreas in rats were observed. Results The level of MDA in H group was significantly lower than that in S group (P <0.05). The pathological changes in H group were significantly reduced compared with those in S group (P <0.05). Conclusion High density lipoprotein can reduce pancreatic damage in MODS model and protect pancreatic tissue.
