抗战前期,宋美龄批评美国政府对日本侵华持冷漠消极态度,希望美国政府采取制裁日本的行动,斥责美国政府供应日本军需却阻碍中国获得军火,认为美国应当努力帮助中国抗日才是;抗战期间,宋美龄在感谢美国政府和美国人民支持中国抗日的同时,认为美国政府应该平等对待中国,废除不平等条约。抗日战争视域下,宋美龄的美国观是有变化的:对美国民众的看法,总体是正面的;对美国政府的看法,则受其对华立场与政策影响较大。
In the early days of the war of resistance against Japan, Song Meiling criticized the U.S. government for its indifferent and passive attitude towards Japan’s invasion of China. He expressed the hope that the U.S. government would impose sanctions on Japan and denounced the U.S. government for its supply of Japanese military forces, which hindered China from acquiring arms. He believed that the United States should strive to help China to resist the Japanese. Soma Mei-ling, while thanking the U.S. government and the U.S. people for supporting China in resisting Japan, believes that the U.S. government should treat China equally and abrogate the unequal treaties. From the perspective of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Soong Mei-ling’s view of the United States is changing: the perceptions of the American people are generally positive; the view of the U.S. government is greatly influenced by its position and policies toward China.
