唐朝皇帝李世民不仅以“贞观之治”名垂青史,而且他处理国内民族关系的政策和措施也有其独到的高明之处,如开明地安置东突厥降众,在全国设置民族压迫色彩不太浓厚的羁縻府州,以文成公主进藏等等成就,都为古今所称道。尤其是他把“抚九族以仁”当作“君之体也”;“岂独百姓不欲而必顺其情,但夷狄不欲,亦能从其意”和他所谓“自古皆贵中华、贱夷狄,朕独爱之如一”的开明态度,在我国历史上确属罕见,是非常难能可贵的。唐太宗推行的开明、进步的民族政策主要体现在和亲政策、团结政策和用人政策上。这些政策顺应了历史的发展潮流,加强了各民族间的交流,增进了他们之间的感情,同时也使得各民族共同进步,共同繁荣的机会大大增加,唐太宗的民族政策为后世在处理民族关系留下了许多可供借鉴与吸取的经验。
Li Shimin, the emperor of the Tang Dynasty, not only worships history in the name of “rule of Zhenguan”, but also has his unique advantages in handling policies and measures for inter-ethnic relations. For example, he placed the East Turkistan in a down-to-earth manner and set ethnic oppression across the country Rich Jimi prefectures to Princess Wencheng into Tibet and so on achievements, all praised ancient and modern. In particular, he treated “people of nine ethnic groups as benevolence” as “the body of the monarch.” The enlightened attitude of “being ancient China all your time, having cheap barbarians and loving yourselves” is indeed rare in our country’s history and it is very commendable. The enlightened and progressive ethnic policies promoted by Emperor Taizong are mainly embodied in the kinship, unity and employment policies. These policies conform to the trend of historical development, strengthen the exchanges among all ethnic groups and enhance the feelings among them. At the same time, the opportunities for common progress and common prosperity of all ethnic groups have greatly increased. The relationship leaves many lessons to learn from and lessons learned.
