The very high critical magnetic field measured in some ternary molybdenum sulfur compounds offers new possibilities for high field coil technology. However, the high critical magnetic field is not the only standard for practical superconductor materials. Superconducting wire must carry the appropriate high critical current, but also have good mechanical properties. To date, most of the measurements made on these compounds have been made with powdered sintered products, and recently there have been some reports of measurements with cast samples. In both cases, it is clear that these compounds can not be drawn into wire due to poor plasticity of the material. The situation is therefore similar to that encountered with A-15 compounds, but the latter has made it possible to make industrial superconductors. This article attempts to demonstrate the possibility of producing superconducting wires with ternary molybdenum sulphides.
