1960年已经到来了。在这新的一年中,工农业生产将有很大增长,基本建设也将扩大,工业将大大加强对农业的支援,供应农村的生产资料和生活资料必将大大增多,根据去年10月份交通计划会议的确定,1960年公路货运量和货运周转量将比1959年预计完成量增长29％和31％。显然,交通运输任务是异常艰巨的。虽然今年国家对公路交通的投资增多了,但运输工具和道路建设的增长,仍然赶不上客观形势发展的需要,公路交通在当前国民经济中仍然是一个突出的薄弱环节。因此,如何千方百计地突破这个薄弱环节,跟上国民经济继续跃进的形势,将是一个带有战略意义的问题。
