昆明铁路分局东站,是全国铁路54个大型货运站之一,是云南省经济建设、国防建设和人民生产、生活大宗物资的集散地.每日平均进出站货物车3000余辆,其中有大量的油罐车、木料、毛皮类、布料、棉、麻、竹、棕、塑料制品、橡胶制品等易燃货物.但是,该站自1964年4月正式投入运营30余年来,无论是该站分布在3.7平方公里区域内的三大货场,还是近百座仓库,均未发生过任何大小火灾事故.因此,连续多年被昆明市、成都铁路局、昆明铁路分局命名为“防火安全合格单位”而屡屡获奖;被省内外的物资单位及货主们称为“易燃货物不易燃”的放心车站.易燃货物为何不易燃呢?主要原因是:
