过去计算机分为微型机、小型机、超级小型机、大型机和巨型机。近几年,随着计算机的广泛应用,需要一种性能近于巨型机,价格与超级小型机相当,一般计算机用户买得起的机器。七十年代开始的并行处理研究和八十年代超大规模集成电路制造技术迅速提高,使得设计生产速度为巨型机的几分之一,价格为几十万美元的计算机成为可能。这就是所谓的小巨型机。本文分析了小巨型机产生的原因,今后的前景和小巨型机采用的技木,并收集了一些小巨型机公司的产品型号。
In the past the computer is divided into mini-computers, minicomputers, super minicomputers, mainframes and supercomputers. In recent years, with the widespread use of computers, there is a need for a machine that is nearly as large as a supercomputer and at a price that is comparable to that of a typical supercomputer. Parallel processing research started in the 1970s and rapid manufacturing of VLSI technology in the 1980s made it possible to design production speeds of a fraction of that of supercomputers at prices of hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is the so-called small supercomputer. This article analyzes the causes of the small supercomputer, the future prospects and technology used by the small supercomputer, and collects the product models of some small supercomputer companies.
