On December 15, 1922, the National Esperanto Joint Conference was held at Peking University. One of the bills passed at the meeting was the preparation of a special language school for Esperanto. In the following year, the Esperanto school responsible for the preparation of Peking University was formally established in the Meng Duan School in Xicheng, Beijing.
