石泉,原名刘适,安徽贵池人,1918年生于北京。1938年进入燕京大学历史系学习,1944年考入该校研究院,师从陈寅恪教授。1954年调入武汉大学历史系任教迄今。现为武汉大学历史系教授、历史地理学专业博士生导师,湖北省楚国历史文化研究会理事长、中国地理学会历史地理专业委员会委员。主要著作有《古代荆楚地理新探》、《古云梦泽研究》(合著)、《楚国历史文化辞典》(主编),以及论文数十篇。
Shi Quan, formerly known as Liu Shi, Anhui Guichi, born in 1918 in Beijing. In 1938 to enter Yanjing University Department of History study, admitted to the Institute in 1944, under the tutelage of Professor Chen Yinque. 1954 transferred to the history of Wuhan University to teach so far. He is now Professor of History Department of Wuhan University, PhD supervisor of History and Geography, Chairman of Hubei Provincial Chu History and Culture Research Society, Member of Geography and Geography Professional Committee of Chinese Geographical Society. His major works include “New Exploration of Geography of Ancient Jingchu”, “Study of Gu Yun Mengze” (co-author), “Dictionary of Historical Culture of Chu State” (chief editor), and dozens of papers.
