Erythrocyte deformability assay is an effective method to detect micro-blood rheology. The prominent pathological changes of diabetes mellitus are systemic microangiopathy and markedly increased whole blood viscosity. However, the studies on whether erythrocyte deformability decreases or not are not the same. A few reports that erythrocyte deformability has nothing to do with diabetes mellitus. To this end, we used laser diffraction method to determine the 42 cases of diabetic patients erythrocyte deformity index (DI
