氯氧镁水泥又称索瑞尔(Sorel)水泥,菱苦土水泥或塑性氧化镁水泥等,是1867年 Sorel发明的一种气硬性胶凝材料。它是由菱镁矿在800~900℃下烧成制得,具有凝结硬化快、强度高、收缩小、耐磨性好和具有相当的耐碱、耐有机溶剂、耐普通盐类和硫化物作用等优点。将它与各种有机或无机填料胶结制成的产品统称为菱苦土制品,其制品具有非常好的耐火性,很低的热传导性,高的弯曲强度和抗压强度。五十年代在我国地区曾形成生产菱苦土制品的高潮,如楼板、门窗、檩条、瓦等制品。
