Since the 18th CPC National Congress, urbanization has become a hot topic in the whole society. It is regarded as a new engine of China’s economic growth in the future and can bring tens of trillion yuan of investment demand and stimulate consumer domestic demand. However, many scholars and experts are worried that a new round of large-scale enclosure and urban construction will take place in the name of urbanization. As a result, the problems of resources, ecological environment and urban diseases will continue to deteriorate. As a professional urban researcher, it is our responsibility to rethink urbanization as it relates to major national development strategies.
