Using pulsed lasers to evaporate the sample at the throat of a supersonic molecular jet nozzle, it is possible to generate cluster molecules and ions of all the elements that are in a solid state at ambient temperature on the periodic table. These clusters can contain up to 200 clusters of atoms and are ideal models for studying surface science at the molecular level. This paper introduces the generation and research methods of these cluster molecules and ions.
