The Tarkwaian Gold Belt in Ghana (Figure 1) was mined as early as the 14th century AD and is one of the largest gold-bearing zones in the world. Manganese-bearing rocks are also widely distributed in this zone The geological reports for most of the mine sites were written during World War II with very little information available at the time.Jonner (1932) argues that the gold deposits are the causal genesis of the In 1974, I made a special study of the gold-bearing vein geology of the Obuasi Ashanti Goldfields deposit, arguing that the gold deposits may be symbiotic but subject to metamorphism and Reconstruction of post-tectonic activities.
