1 Introduction The chemical oxygen-iodine laser (COIL) has been born for more than 20 years. Its output has increased from a few milliwatts to a few hundred kilowatts since its discovery in 1978. The chemical oxygen-iodine laser radiation with a wavelength of 1.31 5 μm can transmit well through the optical fiber and the atmosphere, and the gas-activated medium provides good conditions for the generation of a low-divergence laser beam.
