New Educational Infrastructure Paves the Way for the Digital Transformation of Education
New educational infrastructure is both an inheritance and innovation of current information-based educational development. It is also an inevitable requirement to achieve the transformation and upgrading of information-based educational development. In this issue， officials from education authorities， educational technology professionals， representatives from universities and smart education demonstration areas， as well as representatives from IT businesses such as Huawei， iFly Tek and China Mobile were interviewed to share their insights on the implementation of new educational infrastructure and the pathway of injecting new dynamism into the digital transformation of education sector.
Making Lifelong Learning Become a Cornerstone of Enhancing City’s Soft Power
Shanghai plans to build a lifelong learning-based educational system for all by 2025. It will take the lead in building a learning society with higher level and higher quality driven by urban learning capacity， establish a lifelong learning environment that is inclusive， diversified and ubiquitous so as to better serve the citizens’ needs for lifelong development and significantly improve the capacity of lifelong education to serve socio-economic development， according to Ni Minjing， deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.
Seeking New Opportunities amidst Crisis and Rising to Challenges to Break New Ground in Continuing Education
Facing the challenges， the School of Continuing Education of Renmin University of China has taken initiative in seeking new opportunities and worked hard to press ahead. Through more than one year’s exploration， the School has expanded its business and returned to normal following the outbreak of the COVID-19， said Liu Peng， dean of the School.
New Changes and New Needs Call for New Standards on Online Learning Promoters
The Standard of ISO/IEC 23127-1： Information Technology-Learning， Education and Training-Metadata for Online Learning Promoters， Part 1： Framework ， in which Professor Li Qing from the Institute of Educational Technology， Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications （BUPT） took the lead in formulating， was recently published. The Standard aims to provide a way of describing the information on online learning promoters， regulate the professional activities and facilitate the fast and healthy development of online learning industry.
Establishing a Concept on Grand Vocational Education to Enhance its Adaptability
To remove prejudice against vocational education， it is important to grasp the opportunity of the central government’s policy to promote vocational education reform and development. It is also necessary to establish a concept of grand vocational education， and improve the attractiveness and adaptability of vocational education so as to truly facilitate the high-quality development of the sector， noted Peng Xianjie， associate professor of the Institute of Vocational Education， Tongji University.
