巴音郭楞蒙古自治州和静县发现的察吾乎沟古墓群是迄今新疆所见规模最大、保存最完整的一处古墓群出土文物,对新疆古人类活动等方面的研究价值极高,被考古学界称为察吾乎文化。这是古西域青铜时代至早期铁器时代的一支重要的考古学文化。2001年国务院公布为全国重点文物保护单位。我国考古界对察吾乎文化做了大量发掘和研究工作,但是很多问题还需要进一步深入研究。但是不少墓葬已被今人大量盗掘,为进一步深入研究造成极大损失。我们应该珍惜这一珍贵遗产,加强对察吾乎文化遗址的保护、抢救和研究工作,为人类文化的丰富、发展做出贡献。
