G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) is a novel G protein-coupled receptor family of estrogen receptors, and estradiol and other estrogen binding, but the signaling pathway and mechanism of action and classical nuclear estrogen Receptors (ERα and ERβ) are membrane receptors that mediate both non-genotype fast response and indirect transcriptional regulation through the second messenger system. As GPER may be closely related to the occurrence and development of estrogen-related diseases, it is likely to become a new target of treatment-related diseases, which has drawn much attention in recent years. This article describes the findings of GPER, structure, subcellular localization, ligands, signal transduction pathways and the relationship between the disease and other aspects.
