在进行γ测井时,有些矿体与围岩之间有很明显的界限。在研究此类矿体的γ测井异常形状时,曾发现:l_0值(矿体边界与γ异常两翼直线段与本底相交的点之间的距离)与矿体厚度无关,而决定于矿石和围岩的密度ρ、钻孔直径d以及γ量子探测器的长度(见图)。由此可知,在已知ρ和d的条件下,与钻孔以α角相交的矿体的真厚度h和视厚度h视可按下式求出:
There is a clear boundary between some ore bodies and the surrounding rock when doing gamma logging.
